2nd Online Application Period - Erasmus Students

Short Description: We inform you that the 2nd online application period for Erasmus Students who want to study at the UGR during the academic year 2010/2011 will be open from 1st until 29th July.

Call Erasmus Mundus Associations (Action 2) Lot 4: “Josyleen” – Jordan, Syria and Lebanon

Short description: On May, 15th, the call for the project Erasmus Mundus Associations (Action 2) Lot 4: “Josyleen” – Jordan, Syria and Lebanon was published. The JOSYLEEN scholarships are awarded to students on undergraduate, masters, doctoral and post-doctoral level and to university staff in academic or administrative positions. The programme is funded by the European Commission, and is now continuing on its fourth year.

SUMMER COURSES

Summer Courses at the Centro Mediterráneo of the University of Granada

Short Description: The Centro Mediterráneo of the University of Granada offers every year a wide range of Summer courses in which we invite you to participate.

Summer Courses at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas (Language Centre) of the University of Granada

Short Description: The Centro de Lenguas Modernas offers not only its now renowned Spanish Courses for Foreigners (Hispanic Studies Course (CEH), Studies in Spanish Language and Culture Course (CLCE), Intensive Spanish Language Courses (CILE), Intensive Spanish Language and Culture Course (CILYC), Spanish as Foreign Language Course (CELE) and Optional January Course (CCE)) but also a variety of Foreign Language Courses (English, French, Italian, German, Catalan, Arabic, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Swedish). Here foreign students can share their daily lives with those of Spanish students, thus stimulating a mutual interest in their different languages and cultures. This contact is strengthened through a language exchange service, which gives students the opportunity to practice their Spanish outside the classroom, and by cultural visits and activities.

ACTIVITES

Orientation Week for International Students (20 – 25 September 2010)

Short description: TThe Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations is organising an Orientation Week for International Students which will take place from 20th to 25th September.

During this week, we have planned a colourful array of activities such as General Information Meetings, Individual Meetings at the Faculties and Schools, a movie night, a magical evening, a special Welcome at the Science Park, sports competitions, a guided walk through the University campuses and an invitation to be a Student Ambassador of the student’s country.

Summary of 1st Staff Training Week at the UGR (14 - 18 June 2010)

Short description: On Friday, 18th June 2010, the 1st Staff Training Week at the UGR ended with great success. We would like to thank all staff members of the UGR who took part in the different kinds of meetings and sessions, as well as the Science Park of Granada, the student association AEGEE and María Lourdes Henares Molina (Rutas Literarias por Granada).

Furthermore, we would like to stress that 37 colleagues from our partner universities and 14 different countries participated in our Staff Training Week. We would also like to thank them for their kindness and spontaneity regarding small incidents and last-minute changes.

Moreover, for us it has been a great pleasure to host all participants during our 1st Staff Training Week here in Granada. We were lucky to have a very interesting and kind group of colleagues from our partner universities. For the International Relations Office, it has been an incredible experience which we will repeat next year. Therefore, you are already invited to take part either as participants or speakers.

Vice-Rector for International Relations of the University of Granada, Prof. Dorothy Kelly, new Chair of the Executive Board of the Coimbra Group of Universities

Short Description: It is a pleasure for us to announce that our Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Dorothy Kelly, is the new Chair of the Executive Board of the Coimbra Group of Universities.

UGR member of the HACU (Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities)

Short Description: Since last May, the University of Granada is member of the HACU (Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities) which was established in 1986 with a founding membership of eighteen institutions. Today, HACU represents nearly 450 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

The Alcue Unit at the UGR

Short Description: The ALCUE Unit of the University of Granada aims to be a meeting point and an observatory for all cooperation activities which our academic institution maintains with Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

University of Granada is one of the 10 partner institutions involved in the WISHES-Project

Short Description: WISHES (Web-based Information Service for Higher Education Students) is a European Project funded within Action 4 of the Erasmus Mundus Programme. The core of WISHES is to set up a web-based, high quality, multi-professional interactive information platform composed of:

  • Information Portal promoting European higher education institutions.
  • Work-Placement Database promoting European work placements
  • Online Community strengthening relations towards international students

Any publicly recognised higher education institution/employment body situated in a country which has signed the Bologna Declaration can join the WISHES Network. Participation in the network is free of charge and results in direct access to worldwide promotional opportunities within the WISHES mobility portal.

The co-ordinating institution for the project is the University of Paderborn.

Universidad.es Foundation

Short Description: Universidad.es is a state public-sector foundation whose objective is to promote the Spanish university system worldwide. It is a Spanish government initiative, jointly promoted by the regional governments and the universities themselves. It began functioning in February 2009. Via the Foundation’s portal, gives you can find out detailed information on our University (or any other Spanish university) as regards structure, undergraduate and postgraduate studies, services such as accommodation etc. The portal also offers an online customer service office, providing details on how to contact the Foundation: by phone, e-mail or chat (using Facebook technology).

Undergraduate Courses offered

Short Description: For the academic year 2010/2011, the UGR offers 70 degrees covering all areas (experimental and health sciences, social and legal sciences, technical education and engineering, humanities, etc.), over 35 Summer Courses and 133 Online Distance-Learning Courses.

Postgraduate Studies offered

Short Description: Furthermore, the UGR teaches 77 Official Masters, including: 4 Erasmus Mundus Masters (one taught completely in English), 7 bilingual Official Masters (Spanish-English); 91 Doctoral Programmes, including 17 Co-operative Doctoral Studies and more than 170 UGR Masters, Postgraduate and Short Courses.

UGR Channel

Short Description: The UGR Channel publishes daily news with updated information about scholarships, calls for proposals and activities at the UGR. Moreover, the Science News is also published both in English and French.

Short Description: We would like to inform you that there are information videos about the University of Granada available on youtube.com Furthermore, you can find the UGR on the social networks Facebook, Twitter and Tuenti.

University of Granada closed for vacation from 9th to 22nd August

Short Description: We would like to inform you that the University of Granada’s main services (including the Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations) will be closed from 9th to 22nd August. Therefore, we will be unable to attend any petitions during that period. Our office will be fully functional again as from 23rd August.
