2012 Korean Government Scholarship Program(KGSP) for International Students for Graduate Courses

Chonnam National University is accepting applications for Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Graduate Programs. This program is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between the participating countries. If you are interested, download the information fill and send in the application by April 6, 2012.

  • Application Deadline: e-mail application file and then send the original documents by courier-e-mail: MS Word or PDF documents (including all attachments) to gradia@jnu.ac.kr by March 30, 2012 (Friday)
  • Postal mail: original documents to CNU by April 6, 2012 (Friday)
  • Qualifications:
    • Applicant and parents must be citizens of the country to which scholarships are offered.
    • Under 40 years as of September 1, 2010.
    • Hold either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of September 1, 2012.
    • GPA 80% (out of 100%) or within top 10% among graduates
    • Should have GPA of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4. 3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previous attended institution

Important: Applicants who have ever enrolled in a university in Korea will be disqualified from applying to the KGSP program. Specifically, an applicant who has previously enrolled in an undergraduate program, a master’s program, or a doctoral program in Korea cannot apply for this program.

However, a KGSP scholar who has graduated or will graduate from a Korean university as of August 31st, 2012 can apply for this program again only via the embassy if only he/she holds at least TOPIK Level 4 and obtain another recommendation within the allotment from the Korean Embassy of his/her respective country of origin (re-application is limited to one instance).

  • Scholarship Period:
    • Start of Scholarship Program: September 1, 2012
    • Master’s(3 yrs): 2012. 9. 1 ~ 2015. 8.31(1 yr of Korean language + 2 yrs. of Master’s)
    • Doctoral(4 yrs): 2012. 9. 1 ~ 2016. 8.31(1 yr of Korean language + 3 yrs of Doctoral)
