Thanks to Erasmus+ agreements with third countries not associated to the Programme, the UGR is currently hosting staff from universities in Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, El Salvador, the Philippines, Georgia, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Libya, Mauritania, Montenegro, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine and Uruguay.

The aim of this International Staff Training Week is to facilitate the exchange of experiences and ideas, enabling participants to share diverse working methods and management practices and thereby improve the day-to-day operations of the international relations services at their institutions. The programme includes workshops and activities designed to foster collaboration and learning among participants. Presentations will be delivered on topics including the organisational structure of the UGR’s Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization and emergency management in international mobility. Debates will also be held on common challenges and potential solutions in relation to student mobility.

In addition, workshops will be offered on the consolidation and impact of European university alliances, internationalization beyond mobility, and best practices during student exchange processes. Topics such as intercultural communication and international academic cooperation will also be covered.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend networking sessions and specific meetings to discuss future projects and opportunities for collaboration. Furthermore, several cultural activities will be held, including guided tours of the city of Granada and the "Hospital Real" heritage building, home to the UGR Rectorate, all with a view to enriching the participants’ experience.

The UGR is a national and European leader in terms of both incoming and outgoing mobility of technical, management, administrative and support staff. Training in international issues is crucial for providing effective and comprehensive support not only to these staff members, but also to academic staff and students. Moreover, this training is essential for ensuring active participation in international research programmes and forging new partnerships, in line with the demands of today's globalised society.

The opening ceremony of the STW took place on Monday 11 May at the Triunfo Administrative Complex, with a welcome address by Simón Suárez, Director for International Mobility. This was followed by a presentation on the UGR, as well as a range of cultural activities including intercultural ice-breaker exercises and a game to introduce participants to the Spanish language.

The International Staff Training Week will conclude on Friday 15 May with an institutional farewell and a performance by the Faculty of Science Choir.
