Sustainable Accessible Future Environments: In cooperation with stakeholder representatives and cities, SAFE's objective is to create new ways to learn, design and create new sustainable solutions to making services and spaces more accessible and inclusive. In this process, SAFE organizes 5 LTTs, resulting in 500 ECTS earned by 100 students, 5 scenario workshops with altogether 100 participants trained (Multiplier Events).
This leads to SAFE creating Sustainable and Accessible Future Environments by developing a joint, international, interdisciplinary online and blended study module of courses that equip students with digital tools, skills, knowledge needed and awareness to recognize and design access and safety issues in their studies. This is achieved by connecting disciplines including Safety and Security , Tourism, Hospitality, Social Work, Socioeconomics, Creative Industries, IT and Mechatronics, Urbanism and Architecture to share innovative learning and teaching methods.
These methods can include eg. environmental scanning, wheelchair simulator, culture hunt, futures studies and design, urban area behavioral mapping, safety walks, and visual sociology. The methods are put into practice in the selected urban environments in ISPs with students, businesses, and target group representatives to develop solutions to accessibility issues and develop new services for current and future tourists. This links the priorities of innovative learning and teaching practices with inclusion and diversity as well as the EU Digital Education Plan’s demand for digitally competent and confident educators.
Students will be equipped with awareness and ability to meet needs of all customers designing out barriers to inclusion and diversity. Practical tools that are reusable, upscalable and transferable deliver accessible, green services and environments which make a positive impact beyond the students, HEIs, cities, regions, businesses, third sector organizations and individuals participating in the project.
At the end, the study module is ready. In testing and after, 100 ECTS are gained by students completing the blended learning interdisciplinary, international study module courses with evaluation and curricular descriptions. Data from 200 interviews / survey results conducted with customer target groups will be share in open access repository such as EOSC or Zenodo. 20 improvement suggestions as solutions to problems developed and analyzed in ISPs will be documented. Local scenario books resulting in WP4 are published; a minimum of 100 persons trained in Foresight & Futures Thinking scenario workshops resulting from WP4 workshops. An online training community will be in place with 50 members and 20 people will have received open access online training. A SAFE Toolkit will be published.
