  • Descripción:

The module EuJustref (Challenges to justice in the EU: perspectives for reform) sets the basic framework for this scientific and working proposal, which aims at organizing education, training, and specialization activities on the main challenges for the EU system of justice. So, it seeks to have an important impact not only on European specialists and legal operators but also on citizens, that can acquire awareness on these matters. In this sense, the dissemination of the EU values allows to make the EU citizenship aware that it is essential to have a justice system with all guarantees. Only in this way it is possible to respect the values and rights of a social and democratic Europe. Concretely, EuJustref aims at contributing to the institution of an “EU model of justice for all citizens”. This is a key issue for the survival of the EU and its Member States. The development of a common system of justice is fundamental to promote the participation of citizens in democratic life, EU values and civic engagement and the digital transformation.

The three lines of work are the following: a. the need of an independent and impartial system of justice, b. the internationalization and the Europeanization of justice, c. the digitalization of justice with relation to the application of new technologies and the artificial intelligence, whose importance has become more necessary after the Covid-19.

Good practice guides and action protocols will be drawn up. It will consider the sectors of interest and the professional practices, standardizing actions and eradicating behaviors. To this end, it needs an internal and external evaluation of the current situation, the mechanisms, and the instruments and tools that will be proposed. These three challenges that have a strong impact on the EAFSJ and in general on the process of integration are not separated blocks but they are strictly interconnected. So we have to analyse them together.
