Acclaimed Chinese author Yu Hua has visited Granada to present his latest novel, City of Fiction, at a literary event organised by Casa Asia and the Confucius Institute of the University of Granada (ICUGR), in collaboration with the publishing house Seix Barral.
The seminar, which took place on Wednesday 26 November at the UGR's Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, was moderated by Belén Cuadra Mora and Javier Martín Ríos, both of whom are Chinese language lecturers and translators at the UGR. In a free-flowing exchange with the author, several aspects of his latest novel were discussed, including his creative process and research approach, literary influences, and how his work can be linked to other literary movements. The author shared ideas, reflections, and anecdotes with the audience, who participated enthusiastically throughout the event.
More than 200 people attended the seminar, many of whom travelled from outside the province of Granada, demonstrating the growing popularity of Chinese literature among readers.
