Language accreditation

A list of the official certificates admitted by the University of Granada to accredit foreign language competence and its equivalence within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is available in the following table:

UGR language skills table pdf.

* Please note: Academic transcripts from Official Language Schools (EOI) are not valid for accreditation. If you do not yet have the official certificate of the level you wish to accredit (título oficial), you will need to provide proof of payment of the fees together with the official academic transcript issued by the EOI (with its seal).

If you wish to participate in an international mobility programme in which language competence is either required or valued as a merit, you can accredit your foreign language level through this specific procedure.

To do so, you must present a valid certificate of language competence (see table of language certificates accepted by the UGR) either in person or through the "Sede Electrónica" e-Administration Platform of the UGR:

Procedure

The accreditation of a B1 level or above in a foreign language is required to obtain an undergraduate degree from any Andalusian university. If you already have a foreign language accreditation, you can apply for recognition of your level of language competence by following the procedure below on the e-Administration Platform.

Academic Management: Application for accreditation of foreign language competence in undergraduate studies

If you do not yet have a certificate accrediting your competence in a foreign language, you can take any of the accreditation exams organised by the Modern Languages Centre (CLM).

The University of Granada offers a free exam to its students so that they can opt to accredit at least a B1 level in a foreign language, which they need in order to complete their undergraduate studies.

You will be exempt from paying the fee for the language accreditation exam if you are enrolled on an undergraduate degree, or if you already meet all the academic requirements for obtaining the degree and do not yet have the required minimum level B1 accredited.

You can request a fee waiver in any of the three registration periods established for each year, regardless of the language or exam session you are interested in. Each deadline will be announced well in advance.

How do I apply for a fee waiver for the language accreditation exam?

  1. Complete the application form available on the CLM website within the established deadlines.
  2. If your application is approved, you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your registration for the free exam. You will be able to register free of charge for any exam session available within one year of applying for the fee waiver.

You will be entitled to an exemption from the fee for the language accreditation exam only once, so it is recommended that you do not take the exam until you are sufficiently prepared to pass it. In any case, once you have been granted a fee waiver, you will have one year to register for the exam session that you wish to sit.
